HND / BSc

Our BSc program is under the mentorship of university of Buea.

 

Studying nursing involves gaining the knowledge and skills necessary to provide holistic care to individuals, families, and communities across the lifespan. Nursing students learn about anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and medical procedures, as well as nursing theory and practice.

Nursing education combines classroom learning with hands-on clinical experiences in various healthcare settings, such as hospitals, clinics, and community health centers. Students develop clinical skills under the guidance of experienced nurses and healthcare professionals, learning to assess patients, administer medications, and provide compassionate care.

In addition to clinical skills, nursing programs emphasize critical thinking, communication, leadership, and cultural competency. Students learn to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, advocate for patients' needs, and promote health and wellness.

Upon graduation, nurses are equipped to work in diverse healthcare settings, including hospitals, long-term care facilities, schools, and home health agencies. They play a vital role in promoting health, preventing illness, and caring for individuals during times of vulnerability.

Studying medical laboratory science involves learning the intricacies of laboratory testing procedures to aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. Students in this field explore various scientific disciplines such as biology, chemistry, microbiology, and hematology. They learn how to perform a wide range of laboratory tests, analyze results, and interpret findings accurately.

In addition to theoretical knowledge, students receive hands-on training in laboratory techniques and instrumentation. This includes mastering techniques such as microscopy, culturing microorganisms, analyzing blood samples, and performing molecular testing.

Medical laboratory science programs also emphasize the importance of quality control, safety protocols, and ethical considerations in laboratory practice. Graduates of these programs are equipped with the skills and knowledge to work in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, research laboratories, and public health agencies. Midwifery students delve into subjects such as anatomy, physiology, reproductive health, and neonatal care. They also learn about prenatal care, childbirth techniques, breastfeeding support, and postnatal care for both mother and baby.

Midwifery education places a strong emphasis on holistic care, focusing on the physical, emotional, and social well-being of the mother and her family. Students gain practical experience through clinical placements in various settings, including hospitals, birthing centers, and community clinics, under the supervision of experienced midwives and healthcare professionals.

In addition to clinical skills, midwifery programs emphasize communication, advocacy, and cultural competency, preparing students to work collaboratively with women from diverse backgrounds and provide personalized care that respects their autonomy and preferences.

Upon graduation, midwives are qualified to provide comprehensive care to women throughout their reproductive lifespan, from preconception counseling to prenatal care, childbirth assistance, and postpartum support.
